Waddell & Reed, Inc. adds industry veteran to lead regional advisor recruiting strategy

Sept. 30, 2019 — Waddell & Reed, Inc. has added a 25-year industry veteran to lead its advisor recruiting efforts across the central U.S. in support of its ongoing strategy to attract experienced independent advisors. Regional directors for the East and West regions will join the firm in the coming months, allowing the firm to cover the country in its recruiting efforts.

Steve Bielke, most recently a vice president of regional recruiting for Wells Fargo Advisors, this month joined Waddell & Reed as regional director of advisor acquisition for the central region.

As a regional director of advisor acquisition, Bielke leads advisor recruiting in 12 central states. He works closely with field leaders and the firm’s home office recruiting team to attract top advisors to Waddell & Reed’s independent platform. “Steve brings vast industry experience, connections and a history of recruiting success,” says David Call, vice president of advisor acquisition for Waddell & Reed, Inc. “We’re pleased to have him help us accelerate our strategic growth as we target experienced advisors with detailed financial planning skills.”

In further support of the growing recruiting effort, Waddell & Reed recently added three internal advisor acquisition specialists and a recruiting consultant. The firm also is reinvigorating its focus on advisor retention by advancing its support, service and overall experience for its existing national network of independent advisors. This strategic evolution focuses on technology enhancements, product expansion, increased compensation and broadening support through programs such as the Great Practice Solutions customized practice development program and the Wealth Solutions Group team of credentialed product and sales support experts.
